CORPORATE PROFILE
Jade Acoustics Inc. was formed by Jim Feilders and Dalila Giusti in April, 1989. Mr. Feilders and Ms. Giusti were previously employed as acoustical engineers for several years.
Jade Acoustics Inc. is an acoustical engineering firm providing consulting services to both the private and public sectors. The work includes the control of noise and vibration in the development of land, as well as in the design of buildings and industrial facilities. This includes the impact of a variety of sources such as road traffic, railways, aircraft, industry and mechanical equipment on both residential and commercial uses.
The emphasis of the services rendered is on noise and vibration control. A practical and efficient approach is taken to problem solving for clients needing assistance in meeting government regulations for land development, buildings and industry, and for providing a quiet indoor environment for occupants.
Current practice in Ontario requires developers and builders to meet certain noise and vibration control criteria when development is adjacent to noise sources such as roads, freeways, railways, airports and industry. Both residential and non-residential lands are included. Jade Acoustics Inc. provides the testing, analyses, reporting and site inspections to satisfy the policies and procedures of the various levels of government, generally provincial and municipal. In most cases, the stamp of a Professional Engineer is required.
The application for new or expanded industrial facilities, power plants, landfills, quarries and pits all require the approval of the local and provincial governments. Jade Acoustics conducts the necessary monitoring, design and documentation to satisfy their clients' needs.
When existing roadways are to be expanded or new roadways are to be built, the various government agencies, on a federal, provincial and municipal level, require that the potential impact of noise on the adjacent and/or proposed residential developments be investigated. Jade Acoustics Inc. reviews the proposed alignments, determines the sound exposures based on existing and future road traffic data, evaluates the potential impact and provides mitigative measures based on accepted environmental noise criteria.
There has been a large increase in the number of residential condominium projects in the last twenty years. Unit owners view noise and vibration as serious concerns and do not consider moving to be a viable solution. Jade Acoustics Inc. becomes involved in trouble-shooting problems in existing buildings and in working with architects and other consultants to avoid problems in the design of new developments.
